Counter Strike 2 mods: your questions answered
Counter-Strike 2 modding basics
What are Counter Strike 2 mods?
Counter Strike 2 mods are community-made changes to how a server or map plays, and most are plain-text .cfg files, C# server plugins or Workshop maps. Plugins run only on a dedicated server. Players' clients never run them.
What are CS2 custom maps?
A CS2 custom map is a level built in the Hammer editor, part of the Counter-Strike 2 Workshop Tools, and published to the Steam Workshop. Maps are visual work. Hammer map files are binary, so Nocode Atelier does not edit them, but it can write the configs and notes around a map.
Can I include paintball guns in workshop levels for CS2?
No, not through Nocode Atelier. Placing weapons or objects in a level happens visually in Hammer, and the agent does not edit map files. Check the Valve Developer Community wiki for what the Workshop Tools support, and ask the agent to write plain-text notes for your level.
Can I host my own 1v1 server for CS2?
Yes. Anyone can run a CS2 dedicated server, and it is configured with .cfg files in the server's cfg folder. Nocode Atelier can write and edit those files. Start with 1 map, test it locally and follow Valve's server guidelines.
Using Nocode Atelier
Is nocodeacademics.com the official Nocode Atelier website?
Yes. This is the official Nocode Atelier website, and the download here is the original build, so you can compare its SHA-256 checksum with the published manifest before you run the installer. For help, use the Send feedback button inside the Nocode Atelier app.
Does the code always work?
No. Generated code can be wrong, so read the diff and test it on a local server before real players join. Ask first pauses before every change, and Plan only changes nothing at all, which keeps you in control of each step.
Can Nocode Atelier help with a CS2 zombie mod plague survival server?
Yes, for the text parts. It can edit the C# plugin source and the .cfg files of a server you run, and it runs your build command. It cannot judge game balance. You test every change yourself before players join, and you follow Valve's server guidelines.
Does the agent touch my game client?
No. Nocode Atelier works on files in the chat's working folder and on commands you approve. It never touches the game client or the game's protection systems, and it never acts on servers you do not own or on other players' accounts.
Models, privacy and download
Which AI models can I connect?
Three kinds: a cloud AI provider through a standard API endpoint, a model running locally on your PC, or the built-in model. Pick one. The Test button checks an endpoint and shows its response time and context window. With a local model, nothing leaves your machine.
Does my code leave my PC?
No, unless you choose a cloud AI provider. Prompts go only to the model endpoint you pick, and secrets in tool output are redacted before they reach the model. There is no telemetry. With a local model, nothing leaves the machine.
How big is the download?
The setup program is about 34 MB, and the portable single .exe is about 25 MB. Both are for Windows 10 and 11. The installer is not code-signed yet, so compare its SHA-256 checksum with the published manifest before you run it.
